Cold feet & Warm Hearts

Dear reader,

Hello! It's difficult to think of a future summer wedding when it's 40 degrees outside tonight. Ben is asleep on the couch next to me, wrapped in a pink blanket. And my grandma is watching the news (and well, let's admit the news isn't the most uplifting channel to watch). I will admit, the cold weather is very refreshing, except that my feet are freezing and I haven't been "in the spirit" for wedding planning lately. Just giving it a break because I've been so busy...shopping for outfits for our engagement pictures next month! I cannot make up my mind on what to wear, but things are falling into place day by day. Being content with what I have is difficult when all the stores lure me in with their discounts, fancy decorations, and friendly service....but online shopping is another story and another addiction I have lately! (cough*ebay*cough). Ladies, you know what I mean!

(Kellie Pickler & Husband)

I was reading a section called Advice from a Bride in a wedding magazine. She had a good point. I don't need to spend every waking moment of my life planning this day. It will be fine, even if I can't get everything I planned on getting. Just go with it, even if it isn't what you expected. It would steal the fun and surprise out of life. Country singer Kellie Pickler, just got married away in the Caribbean with her fiance. They were going to have a huge, lavish, "platinum" wedding--but they realized that half of the people they invited, they didn't even like or really talk to. Kind of sad and funny at the same time, but romantic in the sense that they were willing to drop their expensive plans and just share that moment together. It encouraged me, though, that it really is just a moment. But, don't worry, we're probably not going to head down to the Caribbean any time soon! ;)

Anyway, I know all this hard work will pay off--you know, college, work, and planning. But, that doesn't mean it can't be fun and worthwhile, with a few life lessons. More to come!

June 22, 2013 here we come!
