Key to my heart

I'm falling in love with antique, skeleton keys.
I like the idea of keys. They unlock things and can keep things a secret. They have the power to open and close, hide and reveal. That's a great picture of the special bond between a man and a woman. Love, friendship, and loyalty. I purchased a pick-free, high-security lock for my bedroom door for privacy. I ended up losing the key and not being able to open my door when I came home and it was locked. My dad had to saw the lock off because neither of us could find my key or had an extra one. The fire alarm came off from the smoke coming from it all. What a mess! See how the lock and the key need each other?

I want to incorporate this somehow into our wedding. I was imagining centerpieces with some kind of small branches that can have different sizes and styles of antique skeleton keys dangling. Of course, I will add a few peacock feathers in the vase...or maybe some type of flowers...white roses? Maybe I can do without the feathers in the vase and just tuck them in the napkins. That sounds so much better. I never thought I would change my mind so much! Phew.

One of my favorite movies is the Secret Garden. It's a bit depressing in the beginning, and to the middle, but in the end she cheers up a less fortunate boy's life by unlocking a dead garden with a key she finds. This garden was a secret between a man and a woman who lived in the manor. Once she died, his bitterness and grief caused him to close it up and never come back. They slowly restore the garden back to it's former glory as she improves the life of a boy with hanicap disabilities. Well, that's the Secret Garden in a nutshell, I hope. In the end, keys can kill or bring to life. They can shut the door on a relationship or tend to it and help it grow.

Check out this couple's save the date...along with the wedding invites.

Lovely.
